Are you a member of the BIHS, a PhD student, post-doctoral researcher, clinical fellow or other early-career professional working in hypertension or cardiovascular science?
Do you want to help shape the future of our field, expand your network and gain leadership experience?
The BIHS ECR SIG is recruiting new members, and we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for new members who will support the objectives of the BIHS ECR SIG, which include driving professional growth through workshops, webinars and mentorship schemes as well as building community by connecting emerging researchers across UK and Ireland.
Members will be responsible for:
- Attending scheduled ECR SIG meetings (virtual or in-person) during the course of the year
- Assisting with development of workshops, webinars and mentorship schemes on topics such as grant writing, publishing, public engagement and career transitions.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of the ECR session at the BIHS Annual Scientific Meeting.
- Collaboration with, and connecting emerging researchers across the UK & Ireland with senior academics, clinicians and industry partners.
- Supporting activities related to BIHS Research activities
- Upholding BIHS’s mission and ethical standards.
- Publicising widely the ECR SIG activities of the BIHS

BIHS Blood Pressure Measurement Committee
If you are you a member of the BIHS and have an active interest in public health, hypertension, monitors and wearables then we want to hear from you.
We are looking for new committee members who can commit to the role for a minimum period of 24 months and will support the objectives of the BIHS BP Measurement Committee.
The role includes:
- Reviewing monitors and wearables to maintain the BIHS list of validated blood pressure monitors
- Developing guidance on best practice in BP measurement
- Advising on emerging technologies
- Developing position statements and contributing to national guidance and standards
- Promoting best practices in blood pressure measurement
- Attending scheduled committee meetings
In turn the member will be provided with support such as:
- Training and resources necessary to fulfil the role
- A mentor will be assigned to assist and guide
- Regular feedback will be given to aid the learning process
