About the British & Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS)


The British & Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) is the leading professional forum for hypertension and cardiovascular disease in the UK and Ireland. Founded in 1981, the Society brings together clinicians, scientists, and healthcare professionals dedicated to reducing the burden of high blood pressure and related conditions through research, education, and policy advocacy.

BIHS delivers internationally recognised guidelines, supports clinical research, validates BP monitors, and hosts an Annual Scientific Meeting each September. As the authoritative voice in hypertension prevention and management, BIHS is committed to driving meaningful change in healthcare.

The Society also has four standing committees and two special interest groups:
