BIHS clarification concerning evaluation of wearable blood pressure monitors

The British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) is aware of recent media reports concerning BIHS undertaking clinical evaluation of wearable blood pressure monitors. 

Independent academic research undertaken by researchers who may be associated with BIHS should not be confused with institutional participation in the Society's evaluation programme.

BIHS is establishing a rigorous, independent, evaluation programme to assess the clinical performance and potential application of cuffless and wearable blood pressure technologies. Studies on devices by BIHS that are agreed with manufacturers will be announced on this site. 

BIHS welcomes innovation in blood pressure measurement and remains committed to transparent, independent and scientifically robust evaluation.
