📢 Know Your Numbers! Week 2025 – Looking for the Missing Millions

This September, Blood Pressure UK’s annual Know Your Numbers! Week will focus on the 5 million UK adults aged 18–64 who may have undiagnosed high blood pressure – increasing their risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease and more. Many don’t even know they are at risk.

This year’s theme, “Looking for the Missing Millions,” highlights how a simple home blood pressure check could literally be a lifesaver.

As BIHS members, you are in a unique position to help amplify this message across clinical practice, research, and the public sphere. Knowing your numbers gives people the power to act: eating less salt, being more active, or starting medication if needed. Age doesn’t matter – everyone should Know Their Numbers!

This is a clear example of our shared principle that Prevention is Power – by detecting high blood pressure early, we can prevent heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and save lives.

How you can get involved

  • Access the campaign toolkit – includes social media graphics, press release templates, posters, and the video How to Measure Your Blood Pressure at Home.
  • Promote home monitoring – with NHS services under pressure, home BP checks remain the easiest and most reliable way to Know Your Numbers.
  • Run a Pressure Station – if you’re holding BP checks in your community, please support the campaign by submitting anonymised data. This will contribute to a State of the Nation picture of UK blood pressure in 2025.

All BPUK need is the name of your event/location and the readings collected. Participants can also share a little more detail if willing – but all data will remain anonymous.

📣 Share the message

Don’t forget to use #KnowYourNumbers and tag @BloodPress_UK  and @BIHSoc on social media.

And if you or your organisation have a great story about blood pressure and home monitoring, Blood Pressure UK would love to hear it – please email: help@bloodpressureuk.org.

Together, let’s help find the Missing Millions – and show that Prevention is Power.
