BIHS Blood Pressure Monitor Reviews – New Devices

To be listed on the BIHS website, a blood pressure monitor must have been validated according to an accepted international protocol, with the full validation study published in a peer-reviewed journal.

The British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) does not recommend specific journals, nor does it mandate who should undertake the validation study. However, the validation must be conducted independently of the manufacturer.

Submission Requirements

Manufacturers must provide the following:

• An electronic copy (PDF) of the full published validation paper - abstracts alone will not be accepted
• A direct link to the published article in the peer-reviewed journal
• The device operational/manual
• A high quality photograph of the device, suitable for inclusion in the BIHS website and the searchable BP device tool which is currently in development
• Confirmation that the manufacturer has read and agrees to the Terms and Conditions

Where a device has been validated only for use in a specific population (for example, pregnancy), this will be clearly stated on the BIHS website.

Review Process

Reviews will commence once payment has been received

Payment can be made:

• by credit/debit card, or
• by requesting an invoice from info@bihs.org.uk for payment by bank transfer

If approved, the device will be added to the BIHS website under the most appropriate category. Reviews are completed as per timelines set out in th terms and conidions providing all required documentation and payment has been received. 

Inclusion on the BIHS website indicates that a device meets recognised validation standards, it does not constitute endorsement or recommendation for purchase

Fees to review new devices - £1850+VAT

Reviews will only commence once payment has been received.
