BIHS Blood Pressure Monitor Reviews – Derivative Devices
To list a device as equivalent on the BIHS website, the original blood pressure monitor must have been validated according to an accepted international protocol, with the full validation study published in a peer-reviewed journal. The validation study must be conducted independently of the manufacturer.
Submission Requirements
Manufacturers must provide the following:
- The original publication from the journal in PDF format
- URL to the publication in the peer-review journal
- Images of the cuffs from both the original and derivative device opened out showing back and front – side by side for comparison - preferably with a ruler alongside showing the measurement
- Images of all sides of the original and derivative device – side by side for comparison
- Images of any upgrades or changes to the device
- A description of the photographs should also be included.
- High quality image of the device, cropped and on a white background for adding to the new searchable tool when developed.
- Device operational manual
- Other major or minor device change form for including changes to the casing, memory capacity etc. (template provided)
Where a device has been validated only for use in a specific population (for example, pregnancy), this will be clearly stated on the BIHS website.
Review Process
Reviews will commence once payment has been received
Payment can be made:
- by credit/debit card, or
- by requesting an invoice from info@bihs.org.uk for payment by bank transfer
If approved, the device will be added to the BIHS website under the most appropriate category. Reviews are completed as per the terms and conditions.
Inclusion on the BIHS website indicates that a device meets recognised validation standards, it does not constitute endorsement or recommendation for purchase
Reviews will only commence once payment has been received.
Fees for derivative device reviews are £650+VAT
