Guidelines and Information Standing Committee

The Guidelines and Information Service Standing Committee plays a central role in upholding the scientific integrity and clinical relevance of BIHS guidance and resources.

This expert group is responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating evidence-based guidelines, position statements, and educational materials that support best practice in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of hypertension and related conditions.

Working in alignment with national and international standards, the committee ensures that BIHS outputs are rigorous, accessible, and responsive to emerging evidence and clinical need.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing high-quality guidance for healthcare professionals
  • Reviewing evidence and contributing to national policy consultations
  • Ensuring regular updates to maintain clinical accuracy and relevance
  • To provide resources for health care professionals about hypertension
  • To develop a strategy and to manage and support the Information Service to ensure that it delivers on the above
